23 Search Engine Optimization Tips:

People still have a lot of wrong ideas about
search engine optimization. The most naïve idea
is that a site will bring heavy traffic as soon
as it is built and submitted to the search
engines. Another common belief is that a site
will be registered immediately (and stay listed
forever) as soon as it is submitted to each
engine. Search engine optimization is actually an
incessantly evolving process that involves
customization of a site for better search engine
ranking. After building a website and picking a
nice hosting company, one should not instantly go
for submission. It is recommended that he follows
the following steps first… Fine tune the Title Tag: The title tag is
imperative. One should not make the design too
intricate with difficult things like Java, Flash
or dynamically built websites. It is, in fact the
most significant part of content for people who
search. Altering page titles to include some of
the site’s keywords can really augment the chance
that a page will appear with a robust ranking in
a query for those keywords.
Short Tag: The tag must be kept short. Including
space, it should not exceed sixty characters
which are basically nine words, more or less. One
should commence with the most important word for
that particular page and content that is specific
and then move on to general. One big mistake is
to follow what is unique about the page after
beginning with the brand or organization’s name. Description Tag: The Meta description tag is a
short extract of HTML code that resides in the
<Head> </Head> section of a Web page. It is
normally placed after the Title tag and before
the Meta keywords tag, although the order is not
important. Although this tag is nowhere near the
title in terms of importance, it does possess
some value. Description tag should be written in
a concise manner in order to be used as a
summary. It is better to keep the whole thing
under 25/30 relevant words and not to repeat any
of them.
Streamlined HTML page: It is evident that a web
page loads faster with less HTML code. An ideal
page does not exceed fifty kilobytes including
graphics and a hundred kilobyte-webpage is
usually disliked by a few search engines since it
literally means slow browsing. Site map: A site map is useful for SEO to make it
more convenient for indexing spiders to find all
content of a site. Search engine, just like
people, adore site maps. Therefore, it is
expected that a homepage offers a text-based
sitemap which is frequently updated and
presented. A hierarchal format is the most common
and popular layout for a site map page. Avoid Flash: Flash-based websites are pretty hard
to be indexed. As a result, search engines do not
like flash. In addition, flash design irritates a
lot of people since they are basically useless.
Hence, one should avoid flash as a part of search
